The pro's and cons of the new CCU3 are a bit unclear to me.
Can someone explain... For example, does the CCU3 require 'cloud' or will it work standalone, even without a cloud / internet connection active? Is it faster than the CCU2? Would there be a reason to replace a CCU2 with a CCU3?
I find the information somewhat confusing.

Re: CCU3
Hi!
The CCU3 is like the CCU2 without cloud. And yes it's much faster than the CCU2.
Only you can say, if there is a reason to replace the CCU2. Is the CCU2 fast enough for you and you don't need the Mediola visualization, there is no reason.
Kind regards
Chris

Re: CCU3
Dear blueznl,
The CCU3 still using the same WebUI like in the CCU2 - therefore it's easy to migrate everything from CCU2 to a CCU3 with a backup.
The pro's from the CCU3 compared to CCU2:
+ Faster
+ Mediola Neo Plugin included to create your own Dashboard in the App
+ HomematicIP Wired will at the beginning only work with the CCU3
+ All/Most of the Addons work with the CCU3
+ RedMatic Addon is exclusive for the CCU3
Cons are the same as for the CCU2 like no cloud or Alexa (but you can use Hconnect or Cloudmatic) ...Check for more details here the Pro & Cons of the CCU / Raspberrymatic:

You can also build your own CCU3 - ELV has a starter kit called "CCU Charly" or individual with RaspberryMatic or piVCCU + a wireless homematic module
+ Raspberry Pi or Tinker Board
+ RaspberryMatic software:

+ or piVCCU software:

+ Wireless Homematic Module (HM-MOD-RPI-PCB): - can also be used as LAN Gateway
